June 17, 2026 — Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Thematic Workshops propposals

To researchers interested in participating in the scientific program of the 17th International Conference on the History of the Language Sciences (ICHoLS XVII),
This circular presents the schedule and reiterates the invitation to submit proposals for thematic workshops and oral presentations for the event, which will take place from August 23 to 27, 2027, in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Contributions addressing history, epistemology, or historiographical issues of the language sciences are welcome.
Proposals for thematic workshops must be submitted by August 21, 2026 via Google Forms: https://forms.gle/Ui22iLqkrMfVLc9JA. Guidelines:
- Up to three coordinators per session, each holding a PhD and institutional affiliation;
- Proposals must contain up to 600 words, including references, and up to five keywords;
- Workshops may be either open, with a public call for papers inviting researchers to submit their contributions, or closed, when all participants and their respective papers are predefined in the proposal, with no open call for additional submissions.
Accepted proposals and the themes of the open workshops will be announced on this page and also on the EasyChair platform, through a link to be made available in due course.
Proposals for oral presentations must be submitted to the workshops on the aforementioned platform from October 9, 2026 to November 19, 2026, and must contain no more than 400 words, including references, as well as up to five keywords. PhD candidates may also submit proposals for oral presentations. Notifications of acceptance for individual submissions will be sent starting on January 21, 2027.

For ICHoLS XVII, the registration fees have been set at a lower rate than in previous editions. The registration fees are as follows:
For researchers:
• By February 22, 2027: €100 (one hundred euros)
• By March 23, 2027: €130 (one hundred and thirty euros)
• By June 1, 2027: €170 (one hundred and seventy euros)
For PhD candidates:
• By February 22, 2027: €50 (fifty euros)
• By March 23, 2027: €70 (seventy euros)
• By June 1, 2027: €100 (one hundred euros)
